Re: N.H Stripers

Howdy

I fish NH for stripers pretty regularly now, and I find the action can be feast or famine, al depends on the time of the year.   I find that the end of June to the end of July is tops for numbers of schoolie fish, but getting into September is when you get into big fish with much less in the way of quantity.   I usually fish the area on the boarder of Kittery Maine and Portsmouth N.H.  on the Piscataqua River and all the shoals and rips outside the Harbour.  I highly recommend a guide for at least one day, and when it comes to a guide I use Captain Peter Whelan.  Super nice guide and knows his stuff.   The last time I was down there we went Tuna chasing, which is quite the rush .

If you have any more questions as to flies, rods, or anything else, just drop me a message.  I would more then happy to help out.

Cheers

Joe

Re: N.H Stripers

I'm gonna agree with what Joe said. I've been twice, the first time was good, last time not as many fish, so it does seem to be either on or off. My last trip was with Joe, and I will second the recommendation on the guide we used, he did a very good job.

And yea, the tuna fishing was amazing, perhaps the most exciting thing I've done while fishing.
